Brian Dusyk, FCIP, CRM, CCIB, Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public
Handling all lines of insurance from personal auto to large commercial account, Brian has been in the insurance industry since 1973, having served as an underwriter and working in the claims department of a major insurance company. He owned his own agency in Montmartre, Saskatchewan from 1976 to 1982, and was employed at Alexander & Alexander / Reed Stenhouse, a multinational insurance brokerage firm, from 1983 to 1993. In 1993 he, along with his partners, went into business together as Dusyk & Barlow Insurance Brokers Ltd. Working from our Albert St. office, Brian offers extensive experience in nearly all lines of insurance, with particular expertise on small to large commercial risks, including errors and omissions and professional liability, and directors’ and officers’ liability, to name a few. Brian is licensed in both Saskatchewan and Alberta, and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada and a Canadian Chartered Insurance Broker, two of the highest professional standings available in the Canadian insurance industry. He has also successfully completed the Canadian Risk Management program, an intensive study of risk management techniques aimed at reducing exposures to loss and the proper use of insurance to deal with exposures that remain. Brian is a past member of the board of directors for the Insurance Brokers’ Association of Saskatchewan and is a member of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose. Brian’s activities outside of the industry include curling, golf, and spending time with family.
Rob became part of the fourth generation of Barlows in the industry when he joined the company in 1998. He specializes in personal lines insurance and also handles small to mid-size commercial accounts including commercial auto at our Albert Street location. He graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Administration degree in 2001 and obtained the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation as an Honours Graduate in 2004. He completed the CIP program with the Insurance Institute of Canada in 2018, is a current member and past board member of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose, and is a past member of the SGI President’s Advisory Council. Outside of the office, Rob enjoys travelling and spending time with his young family as well as fishing, golfing and curling. An avid football fan, Rob follows his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders, New York Jets, and New York Giants with renewed passion each season.
Stephen, also part of the fourth generation of the Barlow family to enter the insurance business, joined the firm in 1997. Stephen is licensed in both Saskatchewan and Alberta. Stephen focuses on personal lines insurance products such as home, tenant, condominium, and automobile as well as all sizes of commercial accounts. In addition to overseeing the administrative activities at our University Park Drive office, he is also the resident motor licensing expert. He holds the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation which he obtained in 2006. Stephen is a member of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose. Stephen is an avid hockey fan and he and his young family closely follow the Regina Pats.
Manager – Finance
Kelly is our Finance Manager. Kelly has been involved with the Insurance Industry since 1991 and has been with Dusyk & Barlow since 1993. Working from our Albert St. office, Kelly oversees the day-to-day accounting duties including accounts receivables and billings, as well as working with Jim on our Massage Therapy Liability program. Kelly is an avid sports fan who closely follows the Saskatchewan Roughriders and enjoys gardening and spending time with her family, especially her two sons.
Cathy started in the insurance industry in 2004 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan where she began working as a motor license issuer. Upon moving to Regina in 2006 she joined Dusyk & Barlow Insurance Brokers Ltd. Cathy handles much of our behind the scenes processes for policy renewals and does continue to help with motor licensing, extension auto policies, and travel medical insurance at our University Park office. Cathy obtained her CAIB designation in 2010. In addition to sales, she also helps out our accounting department. When she isn’t at the office, Cathy is an avid reader, closely follows the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoys nothing more than spending time with her two sons.
Kristy joined the team in December of 2013 and works out of our University Park office. Currently working towards her CAIB designation, Kristy brings experience in motor licensing and all lines of personal insurance as she has been in the insurance industry since 2010. When not at the office, Kristy enjoys spending time trying to keep up with her husband and two sons.
Shawn joined the Albert St. office in the summer of 2016, bringing 20 years of experience in the local insurance market. He obtained his CAIB designation in 2009 and handles all lines of insurance from motor licensing and auto to residential to rental and various commercial risks. When he isn't with the family running the kids to their various activities, he is either out camping or enjoying a good football game.
Brock joined the firm in 2012 as a commercial lines broker after spending 6 years in the industry with a specialized commercial insurer. Brock is often on the road visiting new and existing clients in and around Regina but, when at his desk, he works primarily out of our Albert St. location. Brock focuses on property and casualty commercial risks of all sizes including Builders’ Risk, Commercial Auto, and Professional Liability (Errors & Omissions) policies. He can also handle Bonding and Surety needs for his clients. He has obtained his CAIB 2 & 3 designations and completed his CIP in 2017. In his spare time, Brock is an avid golfer and enjoys following the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Edmond Douville, Commissioner for Oaths
Edmond brings to the firm over 25 years of experience in customer service. He began his insurance career in 1983 upon purchasing his own brokerage in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. He joined our firm in 1994 and operates from our University Park Drive office. Ed’s background in the agricultural sector, and the general construction and concrete trucking business enables him to identify and assess insurance needs for homes, agricultural and commercial risks, including vehicle insurance. Ed also allows us to offer a bilingual option for our customers as he speaks fluent French. Ed is an avid woodworker and enjoys travelling and spending time with the grandchildren.
Jenna began working part-time with Dusyk & Barlow in the summer of 1999, handling administration duties, telephone reception and motor licensing at our Albert Street office. In the spring of 2001 she joined us full-time, and later that year moved to our University Park Drive office. She now focuses on motor license issuing as well as personal lines insurance products such as home, tenant, condominium, automobile and travel insurance. In the fall of 2005 she obtained her general insurance license, finished her CAIB designation in 2008, and is currently working toward her CIP designation. Jenna is currently on the board for the Young Brokers Network which helps to provide young brokers with the necessary training hours required for licensing in our industry. Jenna is an accomplished Ukrainian Dancer, enjoys playing wallyball, travelling with her husband and spending quality time with friends and family.
Matt joined the firm in 2017, obtained his general insurance license in 2010 and is currently working towards his CAIB designation. He specializes in all personal lines products including travel medical insurance. Matt works primarily out of our Albert St. office. In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, playing card with friends, cheering for his hometown Riders and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
Trista Lafrance, Commissioner for Oaths
Although Trista joined Dusyk & Barlow in January of 2011, she has been working in the insurance industry as a motor license issuer since March of 2010. She will be one of the first smiling faces you see at our Albert St. counter. In addition to motor licensing, she is working towards her CAIB designation and can help you with extension auto, home, condo, tenant, and travel insurance as well. When Trista is not at work, chances are you can find her at the gym, unless it’s an NFL Sunday. If that’s the case, she’s at home watching a game.
Jim MacKenzie, MBA, DAA, FCIP (Hons)
Jim started in the industry in 1990 and joined the Dusyk & Barlow team in 1994. He is our Albert St. office expert on personal lines insurance and travel medical insurance. He also handles commercial risks of all sizes including our Massage Therapy Liability program. Jim is licensed in both Saskatchewan and Alberta, and is a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (completed with Honours) and won the James Richardson Award from the Insurance Institute of Canada as top management graduate in Canada in the program in 2005. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Diploma of Associate in Administration from the University of Regina, and is a sessional lecturer in organizational behaviour for the Faculty of Business Administration. He is a past-president of the Insurance Institute of Saskatchewan and teaches courses on liability, crime and property insurance to CIP students on behalf of the Insurance Institute. He is currently second vice-president of the south Saskatchewan chapter of the Canadian Condominium Institute. Like Ed Douville, Jim speaks French, offering another option for our bilingual customers. An accomplished amateur photographer, he won the Most Outstanding Photograph award at SaskPhoto at 1999′s Buffalo Days provincial exhibition. Jim is a HAM radio enthusiast and is working towards his HAM radio license. He also enjoys spending time with his family travelling or fiercely competing in board game tournaments. Year after year he is frustrated by his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Desmond McAllister, Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public
New to the industry in 2006, Desmond is one of the first faces you’ll see in our Albert St. location and he is happy to help in all areas of auto insurance whether it be motor licensing or extension auto policies. Desmond also handles much of our Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths services out of our Albert St. office. Outside of the office, Desmond is a devoted family man and is very involved in promotion of Caribbean culture in Saskatchewan – leading Regina’s Pacesetters Steel Orchestra as well as singing in Regina’s Afro/Caribbean band, NYK.
Connor is our newest addition, joining the firm in 2018. Although he just recently obtained his general insurance license in 2018 he has 10 + years of experience in the industry between motor licensing and claims. Connor completed his CIP in 2018 as well. Working out of our Albert St. office, he specializes in all personal lines products including travel medical insurance. In his free time, Connor enjoys spending time with his family, and anything and everything sports including golf, curling, slow pitch and cheering on the Roughriders, Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Bucs and Toronto Blue Jays.
Tessa joined the Dusyk & Barlow family in May of 2010. She will be one of the first voices you hear on the phone and one of the first faces you see at our University Park Dr. office. She specializes in motor licensing and helps out our accounting department as well. She has completed her CAIB designation and partially completed her Education degree at the University of Regina. She handles travel, personal auto, tenant, condo, homeowner’s insurance as well as commercial products. An avid pop culture enthusiast, Tessa enjoys spending time with her growing family and their two dogs.
Jenna started in the industry as a rural broker in 2010. She joined the Dusyk & Barlow team in February of 2014. She is one of the first faces you will see at our Albert St. office. She handles motor licensing duties as well as sales for auto, condo, and tenant insurance. Jen is currently working toward her CAIB designation. In her down time she enjoys art, books and spending time with her growing family.
Our Support Staff:
Kendrick Dusyk, B. Admin
Brian’s son, Kendrick, started helping out at the office on a part time basis in the summer of 2011. He graduated from the University of Regina in 2018 obtaining his Bachelor Administration with a major in Marketing. He is currently working toward his CAIB designation. In his spare time, Kendrick is an avid sports fan, playing baseball and following various sports teams including the Roughriders, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Blue Jays and the Green Bay Packers.
Kaden joined the firm in 2017 and works as a part time motor license issuer at our University Park office. When not working or pursuing his studies in Sports Management, Kaden follows the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Regina Pats and the Pittsburgh Penguins & Steelers. He also enjoys refereeing hockey.
McKenzie joined the Dusyk & Barlow team in 2016 as a member of our accounting and invoicing team. You will also find McKenzie helping out with motor licensing at the front counter of our Albert St. office. In her spare time Mckenzie is an enthusiast for all things Harry Potter.
Karen started with Dusyk & Barlow in September 2011. She has an insurance background, last working in the industry for SGI Canada over 15 years ago in their commercial automobile department. She will now be one of the first faces you see when you visit our Albert St location as she will be assisting with motor licensing and other administrative duties. When she is not at the office she enjoys spending time wither family or having a quiet night with a book.
Ashlyn has been working in insurance since 2011 when she started working in the family brokerage in Melville, SK. She works with us part-time as a motor license issuer, primarily at our Albert St. office, while attending the University of Regina to obtain her degree in Education. When she isn't working or studying, she enjoys spending time with family.
In the industry since 2011, Brianna joined us in December of 2013 and is the direct assistant to Kelly Mochoruk, helping with invoicing of policies and other behind the scenes administrative duties. That being said, Brianna does bring experience in motor licensing and auto insurance and can be found helping out clients in those regards. Away from work, Brianna enjoys knitting and crocheting when she isn't busy with her young family.
